Frequently Asked Questions

What are the five elements (Wu Xing)?

Wu Xing describes five phases - wood, fire, earth, metal, water - that interact through creating (sheng) and controlling (ke) cycles. Wood feeds fire, fire creates earth (ash), earth bears metal, metal collects water, water nourishes wood. It describes patterns of change, not literal substances.

How do I find my element?

Your primary element can be determined through your birth year zodiac sign or, more precisely, through your Bazi chart which reveals your day master element. You can also take our free five elements quiz for a quick assessment.

How are the five elements used in feng shui?

In feng shui, each element corresponds to colors, shapes, and materials. If a room feels stagnant, add wood elements (green, plants) or fire elements (red, lighting) to activate it. If it feels chaotic, add earth elements (yellow, ceramics) to ground the energy.
