WHAT'S INSIDE
- 01 Primary Hexagram Analysis
The full meaning of your cast hexagram — the Judgment, the Image, and what each of the two trigrams contributes. - 02 Nuclear Hexagram (互卦)
The hidden core of your situation — what is developing beneath the surface that you cannot yet see. - 03 Changing Lines Deep Dive
Each moving line interpreted individually — which aspects of your situation are in flux and what the Yi Jing advises about each one. - 04 Transformed Hexagram (之卦)
Where your situation is heading — the hexagram that emerges after the changing lines flip. The outcome, not the diagnosis. - 05 Practical Guidance
What to do, what to avoid, and what to watch for — concrete advice grounded in your specific hexagram, not generic wisdom. - 06 Historical Context
How this hexagram has been understood across two millennia — from King Wen to modern sinologists.
How it works
1
Cast your hexagram
Use the free I Ching Coin Casting tool on this site — or any method you prefer. Toss three coins six times. Each throw builds one line of your hexagram, from bottom to top.
2
Submit your hexagram number
Enter your hexagram number (1-64) and which lines are changing. The system identifies your primary, nuclear, and transformed hexagrams automatically.
3
Receive your reading
An 8-page PDF arrives in minutes. Each section draws on classical sources — the Ten Wings, the Wilhelm-Baynes translation, and Chinese commentaries — synthesized into a reading for your specific situation.
SAMPLE FROM A REAL READING
"You cast Hexagram 3 — Difficulty at the Beginning (水雷屯, Zhun). Thunder rises beneath Water: a storm is brewing below a still surface. The nuclear hexagram is 23 — Splitting Apart (山地剝) — which tells us the hidden dynamic is decay. Something in this situation has been rotting quietly while you focused on the surface problem. Your changing line is Line 1: 'Hesitating and circling. It furthers one to appoint helpers.' The Yi Jing is telling you, with unusual directness, to stop trying to solve this alone. The transformed hexagram is 8 — Holding Together (水地比) — a hexagram of alliance, unity, and finding your people. The reading: the difficulty you are facing is not the one you think you are facing. The real problem is the thing that has been deteriorating while your attention was elsewhere. And the solution is not more effort — it is more people."

Frequently asked questions
How do I cast my hexagram to use this service?
Use our free I Ching Coin Casting tool. Toss three virtual coins six times — each toss builds one line. The tool shows your primary hexagram, nuclear hexagram, and transformed hexagram instantly. Copy the hexagram number and which lines are changing, then submit them with your Deep Reading order.
What if I cast with no changing lines?
A cast with no changing lines is perfectly valid. It means your situation is relatively stable — the primary hexagram is both the diagnosis and the outcome. The reading will focus entirely on the primary hexagram and its nuclear hexagram, with guidance drawn from the Judgment and Image rather than the line texts.
Which sources do the readings draw from?
The readings synthesize the classical Chinese commentary tradition: King Wen's Judgments, the Duke of Zhou's line texts, Confucius's Ten Wings (especially the Tuan Zhuan and Xiang Zhuan), and the Wilhelm-Baynes translation. The interpretation layer translates these classical sources into readable modern English without losing their precision.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If the reading does not resonate, email us within 7 days for a full refund. The I Ching is a dialog — not every answer lands the first time, and we do not expect it to.
How is this different from the free tool?
The free tool gives you the raw data: hexagram number, name, Judgment, Image, and the three hexagram types. The Deep Reading interprets that data. It connects the primary hexagram to the nuclear and transformed hexagrams, explains what each changing line means for your situation, and synthesizes everything into actionable guidance. The free tool shows you the map. The Deep Reading tells you how to navigate the territory.
